May I Borrow Today for Tomorrow?

May I Borrow Today for Tomorrow?

With busy schedules, today I’ve no time.
So, may I borrow today for tomorrow?
Today, I’m exhausted, angry, and far from fine,
So, may we be together and happy tomorrow?

My dear, the day runs faster than my hour,
So, may I bring you gifts and flowers tomorrow?
There’s still so much to do, to reach the tower,
So, may I pause and breathe tomorrow?

To all my well-wishers, please forgive my renunciation.
I’m buried beneath to-dos, it’s not pride nor provocation.
And to all my haters, I ask pardon for my retaliation.
I am engraved in this race we call success,
But I promise to smile at all of you, tomorrow.

I know my breaths and beats are numbered.
I’ve mourned the passengers, the families,
Lost in senseless crimes, crashes and calamities.

Some of my own said goodnight,
Went to bed, and woke up in heaven.
Some of my own, lost in fading minds,
Unaware they stood at life’s last lines,
And were taken where souls are driven.

One companion fought in silence his battles with despair,
And alas, drank poison to escape the air.
Today, someone shines with name and fame.
Tomorrow, they’ll twinkle in silence,
Claimed by fate’s cruel game.

I know these stories will linger in papers and memories,
While the world moves on,
Chasing tomorrow with new glories.

Yesterdays and Todays are always whispering goodbyes.
Only Tomorrows wait for each of us with soft “hi’s.”
So, please, wait for me,
For my grace and embrace, tomorrow.
I promise I’ll be there, or somewhere near,
Carrying the warmth of all I hold dear.

Just let me spend my todays
On work, on study, on duty, on striving.
With busy schedules, today I’ve no time.
So, may I borrow today for tomorrow?

Because I’ve saved, for us,
My tomorrow. doctor_.poet🩺
